Fluvius est Peloponnesi, quo Neris oppid. alluebatur. Lutatius, Neris Civitas Peloponnesi, quae fluvio Charadrô circa eunte raditur. Fuit
autem Neris civitas Messenes memorata Stephano, quiidem et Charadri amnis meminit, ut et Pausan. in Messeniacis: Qui et Charadrum terrentem celebrat Corinthiacis: et ammem Charadrum, Achaicis; ex quo potantia pecora maximam partem credita fuerint marem sobolem gignere, ideoque ad eum non nisi bovinum pecus agi consuetum, quod ad opera boves mares apitores sint, quam feminae. Alius est torrens, qui tantâ vi procedit, ut natantia etiam saxa avertat, dictus eidem Statio, Thebaid. l. cit. v. 712. et seqq.

Quibus ultimis verbis Charadrum eundem innui, docet Barthius ad loc. Idem nomen urbis, vide in voce Charadrus Graecis χάραδρος et χαράδρα, proprie fossa est, seu portus fossitius; unde alle in Cilicia χαραδρος λιμηὸ καὶ ἐπίνειον. Sic Charadrum Ambraciae, pro portu, dixit Ennius: quod et forte nomen Ambraciae portui fuerit. Salmas. ad Solin. p. 1108.
